LO1 - Duncan Philpott

Duncan Philpott is a action/adventure  photographer, this means he primarily takes photos of sporting events such as bike trial competitions and also take photos off people doing general exercise. Some of the many different genres that he does include photo journalism, editorial ,commercial, grammin and paperwork.

One of the main things duncan has to do when he is hired on by a company is they give a brief which basically is a set off guidelines in which duncan is set to follow. he will then set out to obtain the product they want. Today i will be analysing one of his photographs.

The photo is of a trials biker competing in the countryside.  

Genre

The genre of this image is sports photography as it capturing a sporting event, i like this genre as it allows you to get some very unique images that would not have been able to be seen with the naked eye.

Purpose

 The purpose of this image maybe to promote a certain sporting such as a downhill biking event or maybe his passion could be mountain biking and he is trying to capture some unique photographs of his hobby. 

Image analysis 

In this photo we can see the use of a few photographic elements the first and most obvious being the use shallow depth of field this is where the foreground is out of focus and the background is in focus, i believe that he has done this in order to make the biker the subject of the photo and to draw the viewers attention.

Meaning 

 I do not believe that there is meant to be a meaning to this picture. Personally i like duncan philpott's work as it is very unique and very well done.
